How to correctly use the seven chakras

Chakras are spinning centers of vital energy in your body, seven of which are primary, and they control the flow of the cosmic energy known as “Prana.”

When these chakras are balanced and active, it positively impacts your overall health, your ability to concentrate, your inner happiness, and even your relationships with others.

In this comprehensive guide, we will delve together into the depths of the world of chakras—this complex and fascinating system of vital energy centers in the human body, which plays a crucial role in our physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Understanding these centers and their balance is the key to living a more harmonious and happy life.

What are Chakras and Why Should You Care?

Chakras is a Sanskrit word that means “wheels” or “vortexes.”

In the traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda, chakras are described as spinning energy centers located along the spine, from its base to the crown of the head.

These energy vortexes are not just philosophical concepts; they are vital channels that receive and distribute “Prana” (the cosmic vital energy) throughout the body.

Imagine your body as a large house, and each chakra is a room within it.

If one of the rooms is cluttered or closed off, energy cannot flow freely, which affects the efficiency of the entire house.

The same applies to the chakras; when they are charged with positive energy, they support the body and combat physical and psychological ailments.

Why does this concept matter to you today?

In the fast-paced life we live, our neuro-psychological system is exposed to constant stress that can lead to an energy imbalance.

Conscious work on the chakras restores your “foundational balance,” helps you notice internal signals, and adjust your lifestyle in accordance with your overall health.

The Map of the Seven Chakras

There are seven primary chakras that extend along the spine.

Each chakra is associated with a specific area of the body and has its own color, frequency, and specific psychological and physical functions.

Understanding these chakras and their functions helps us diagnose any imbalances and work to restore balance.

1. The Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Located at the base of the spine, between the anus and the genitals.

This chakra, with its vibrant red color, symbolizes foundation, security, stability, primal instincts, a sense of belonging, and survival.

  • Functions: It governs basic needs such as food and shelter.
  • Associated Organs: The adrenal glands, kidneys, spine, bones, feet, and legs.
  • When Balanced: You feel secure, confident, stable, and able to adapt to changes.
  • Signs of Imbalance: Existential anxiety, fear, financial/behavioral chaos, problems in the lower digestive system, and lower back pain.

In my personal experience, after going through a difficult psychological state in 2015, I felt constant anxiety and a sense of instability.

I later discovered that my Root Chakra was weak.

I began to focus on grounding exercises and walking in nature, and I felt a significant improvement in my sense of security and self-confidence.

It is the foundation of everything

2. The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Located about 2 inches below the navel, in the pelvic area. Its orange color reflects its connection to emotions, creativity, sexuality, pleasure, relationships, self-expression, change, and the acceptance of others.

The green line shows the optimal state of balance, while the orange line shows an example of a state where the chakras might be affected by life’s pressures or a lack of awareness.

By understanding this representation, you can begin to identify which of your chakras may need special attention.

Conclusion and Next Steps

We have come a long way in understanding the chakras, these spinning wheels of energy that affect every aspect of our existence.

Remember that the chakras are not just theoretical concepts, but rather a practical framework for training attention and directing energy through the body and mind.

Balance arises from small, consistent habits, and your daily commitment is the key to achieving well-being.

When you treat the chakras as a way of life rather than a complex ritual, you will notice that your life becomes lighter and clearer.

Start from the root, and ascend step by step. Small consistency today equals great balance tomorrow.

Suggested next steps for your journey:

  • Adopt a simple daily routine of 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening.
  • Dedicate one day a week to focus more deeply on a specific chakra, starting with the root.
  • Evaluate your progress every 14 days: monitor the quality of your sleep, your level of calmness, etc.
  • Be flexible in adjusting your tools and practices, but do not abandon the fundamentals.
